Well-woman visits
A yearly checkup to review your overall reproductive and general health, screenings, and preventive care needs. Covered once every year.
Cervical cancer screening
A Pap test to find early signs of cervical cancer. Recommended every three years for most women starting at age 21.
Human papillomavirus (HPV) DNA test
An HPV DNA test can find high-risk HPV types that cause cervical cancer. Recommended for women 30 and over with normal results, usually every three years.
Osteoporosis screening
A bone density test for women over 60 to check for osteoporosis and prevent fractures. Frequency depends on risk.
Urinary incontinence screening
A yearly check to see if you have urinary incontinence and get help managing it if needed. Covered annually.
Tobacco use screening and interventions
Screening for tobacco use and help quitting, with extra counseling if you’re pregnant. Covered yearly or as needed.
Domestic and interpersonal violence screening and counseling
Private counseling and support if you may be experiencing domestic or interpersonal violence. Covered annually or as needed.
Breast cancer genetic test counseling (BRCA)
Genetic counseling for women with family history or other risk factors for breast cancer. Covered as needed.
Breast cancer mammography screenings
A mammogram to check for breast cancer. Recommended every one to two years for women over 40.
Breast cancer chemoprevention counseling
Advice on medications that can help lower the risk of breast cancer for women at higher risk. Covered when recommended.
Contraception
Access to FDA-approved birth control methods, counseling and education.
Anemia screening
A simple blood test during pregnancy to check for anemia, which can affect your baby’s health. Covered when pregnant.
Folic acid supplements
Daily folic acid supplements to help prevent birth defects if you may become pregnant. Covered ongoing.
Gestational diabetes screening
A blood sugar test during pregnancy to find gestational diabetes early, usually at 24-28 weeks.
Hepatitis B screening
A test for hepatitis B at your first prenatal visit to help protect your baby. Covered once per pregnancy.
Preeclampsia prevention and screening
Monitoring and support for pregnant women with high blood pressure to prevent preeclampsia. Covered during pregnancy.
Rh incompatibility screening
A blood test during pregnancy to check Rh factor and prevent complications — initial and follow-up tests if needed.
Urinary tract or other infection screening
Tests for urinary tract or other infections during pregnancy to protect you and your baby. Covered as needed.
Syphilis screening
A simple blood test for syphilis during pregnancy or if you’re at higher risk. Covered as needed.
Breastfeeding support and counseling
Personal support and counseling to help you with breastfeeding, plus access to pumps and supplies. Covered ongoing.
HIV screening and counseling
A blood test and counseling to check for HIV and prevent transmission. Covered yearly or as needed.
Chlamydia screening
A test for chlamydia for younger women and those at higher risk. Covered yearly or as needed.
Gonorrhea screening
A test for gonorrhea for women at higher risk. Covered yearly or as needed.
Sexually transmitted infection counseling
Counseling on how to prevent sexually transmitted infections. Covered yearly or as needed.
HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP)
Includes medication and the required services before starting:
- HIV testing
- Hepatitis B and C testing
- Creatinine testing and kidney function tests
- Pregnancy testing
- STI screening and counseling
- Adherence counseling to support proper use
